Evidence 2

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?

Well this reflection about a film about social injustice is a perfect representation of the principled IB learner profile characteristic. During this reflection we had to get evidence from the movie of examples where classism was mentioned. This was backed up with different examples of clear injustices in the movie. As a student writing a reflection, I included my experiences and opinions of social injustice which made me think back on my privilege and check myself. Watching this movie made us respect the history behind The Help.

Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence?

While trying to find evidence of classism in the movie, I couldn't help but notice the clear classism of the city I live in. I remember feeling like we still haven't overcome situations like classism and colorism, even when I don't even realize. I felt like I was also reflecting upon how I live and the life I dictate for myself.

Which challenges did I face when developing this particular evidence?

I think it was a challenge to withstand the injustices that are committed in the movie. Even though it is a movie, it is difficult to see the reality that it was based off. Also feeling like you can't do anything to help is challenging. Being reflective is also always kind of a challenge, along with putting your thoughts into words.

Evidence 3

In this project I was determined to create a poem, by exploring new ideas of creativity. This poem was kind of a challenge to write yet I was resourceful when putting together literary devices. One challenge I faced was completing all the requirements of using the examples of alliteration, onomatopoeia, and parallelism. However, this poem helped me develop my creative skills and test myself when indulging in a type of literary text I don't usually practice.
